Ratan Naval Tata was raised by his grandmother when his parents, Naval and Sooni Tata, separated when he was ten years old. He was born in Bombay on December 28, 1937

From 1991 up to 2012, he presided over Tata Sons as chairman for more than 20 years. In 2016, he made a brief reappearance as interim chairman.

He was elected to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's board of trustees in 2013

Tata adored dogs a lot and has shown off his softer side by posting about his love of animals on social media

FRatan Tata had received numerous awards and honors, including the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, India’s third and second highest civilian honors.

As a promoter for innovation, he developed programs like the Tata Innovista awards to honor and encourage creative ideas within the Tata Group.
